What is DermaMedics’ Calm & Correct Serum?

The Calm & Correct Serum is a gentle silicone-based serum designed to soothe and visibly improve damaged skin. Because the formulation is extremely mild, it can be applied to skin that has been abraded, burned, or otherwise irritated. Within minutes of application, the product will calm the skin and provide a layer of protection the skin needs to start repairing itself. Calm & Correct Serum contains two of the most skin-friendly, plant-derived oils available, squalane and jojoba oil. By combining these oils with a cosmetic silicone fluid base and DermaMedics’ patent-pending complex, Therosol®II, Calm & Correct Serum is the perfect choice for soothing and calming red and damaged skin. The product is non-irritating and so gentle that it can be applied as often as necessary. The Therosol®II complex consists of two pure botanically derived ingredients, which have been shown in laboratory research studies to have both anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects on skin cells. Calm & Correct Serum can be used to soothe a variety of inflammatory skin conditions. It is gentle enough that it can be used on skin that has been damaged by psoriasis, eczema, burns, rashes, laser re-surfacing procedures, strong chemical peels, and dermabrasion.

 

How do I use Calm & Correct Serum?

After cleansing skin with DermaMedics’ Foaming Facial Cleanser, apply Calm & Correct Serum evenly and liberally to all affected areas of the skin. Because of its calming and moisturizing properties as well as its ability to absorb quickly, Calm & Correct Serum can be applied as frequently as necessary to affected skin. For best results, it should be used at least twice daily until the skin has returned to normal.

 

Are there any concerns regarding the use of Calm & Correct Serum?

There are no known concerns regarding the use of this product. However, as with any skin care product, you should avoid getting the Calm & Correct Serum in the eyes, and if irritation develops discontinue use.

Cyclomethicone and Dimethicone

This is a blend of two skin-friendly silicones that produce a greaseless, fast–absorbing, elegant feel when applied to the skin. They can quickly penetrate into the top-most layer of the skin (stratum corneum) where they help to produce a barrier against water loss, thus allowing the skin to retain moisture. This silicone blend is non-irritating and non-comedogenic.

Jojoba Oil

This oil is prepared from the seed of the jojoba plant and, unlike many natural oils, is chemically similar to the oil produced by sebaceous glands of the skin. It is a superior moisturizing emollient which helps soften and smooth skin. Jojoba oil is so gentle and pure that it can be applied to cracked and damaged skin to help moisturize and restore the skin’s barrier.

Squalane

Obtained from olive oil, squalane boosts the skin’s ability to hydrate. This unique oil is also a superior emollient. It is very similar to oils produced in the skin and is therefore an excellent choice to use in order to help repair damaged skin.

Therosol®II Complex

Therosol®II Complex is a proprietary and patent-pending botanically derived ingredient discovered by DermaMedics’ scientists. Laboratory research studies on cultured human skin cells have shown that Therosol® can block the production of inflammatory hormones in a variety of skin and immune cells that cause vasodilation, irritation and skin damage. Therosol can also stimulate collagen and elastin production in skin cells.
